Because Joshua "went to Gilgal" (i.e., Remembrance, Renunciation, Restoration, & Revelation), the kings of the Amorites were afraid and formed an alliance, were beaten and hid in a cave, and were humbled. Prayerfulness + obedience = victory!

Joshua is deceived by the Gibeonites because he did not ask for the counsel of the Lord, since the situation seemed harmless. When we trust in ourselves & lean on our own understanding, we will bring about a lot of suffering and heartache.
