Because Joshua "went to Gilgal" (i.e., Remembrance, Renunciation, Restoration, & Revelation), the kings of the Amorites were afraid and formed an alliance, were beaten and hid in a cave, and were humbled. Prayerfulness + obedience = victory!

"To Know Me is to Love Me?" Jesus is our shepherd. He knows our name, do we know His voice? He leads us, not drives us. He is patient with us. With Him, we will find pasture and shall not be in want.

Joshua is deceived by the Gibeonites because he did not ask for the counsel of the Lord, since the situation seemed harmless. When we trust in ourselves & lean on our own understanding, we will bring about a lot of suffering and heartache.

After the Israelites are defeated at Ai, God gives them victory because they followed His Word, will & way. The loss of battle does not mean the war. Strategy + God = Victory!

After their victory at Jericho, the Israelites were defeated at Ai because of disobedience, overconfidence, and lack of prayer. God's power is removed when there's sin in the camp. Let's face our defeat frankly, acknowledge it personally, & confess immediately.

The Lord calls Paul and Ananias - one to be a missionary to the ends of the earth, the other to be a missionary to a missionary just down the street. Both required much faith. Both were significant. Where is Jesus calling you? Our response should not be "why", but "what next"?
